Installing and using a terminal emulator
Introduction
This guide will show the process of installing and configuring a terminal emulator. For Windows the tutorial will be using Tera Term which is an open-source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator. For Linux the tutorial will be using PuTTY which is a free and open-source terminal emulator, serial console and network file transfer application. Digilent uses these terminal emulators in our demos for communicating through the USB UART and Ethernet on Digilent FPGAs.
Prerequisites

13.3MBof free hard-drive space for Tera Term.

1. Installing a Terminal Emulator

Openhttps://ttssh2.osdn.jp/index.html.en Downloads pagein a new tab. Find the section of the page entitled “Download”. Select the “download page” and download the installer.
Click on the installer and select run

Accept the agreement and click next

Select where you want Tera Term installed and select next

Select the components to be installed. For beginners select standard installation

Choose the desired language and select next

Select if you have a short cut in the start menu and select next
